ASK:: who and what am I even letting influence me, bro?

CONCEDE:: I literally know I'm doom scrolling and that doom scrolling is a thing.

DECLARE:: I will do better at filtering out influences that are not good for me. I do this without judgement or shame. I understand that it is important to be present and to lead our youth by example. I will honor my wishes to be a healthy and happy human person even when I don't feel like it.

INTRODUCE:: The Smart Scroll.

seriously tho - who is influencing you? what are your feeds like? how many feeds do you imbibe? when do you start plugging in for the day? is it right after you open your eyes for the first time that morning? the last thing you see before you *try* to sleep? that's a pretty extreme addiction. i see you.

here's what i ask

  • does it inspire me?

    • if yes, how?

  • is it beautiful?

    • if yes, why?

  • does it add value to my life?

    • if yes, how?

  • does it educate me emotionally, psychologically, physically or spiritually?

    • if yes, is it information i trust?

    • if yes, why do i trust it?

  • is it fulfilling a community/social need?

    • if yes, how?

how i do it

  • note what time i wake up

  • note what time i start my morning practices

    • meditation (guided, sitting, walking, etc)

    • spiritual (bible study, tarot, prayer, etc)

    • physical (yoga, run, bike, workout, etc)

  • journal & log
    • habit trackers
    • debrief
    • brain dump
    • log times
    • post deets to community

 

  • begin my day 💃

Run this Media Audit regularly. 

  • not ready to unfollow some accounts? (ie: a long-term friend or a celebrity)

    • put it on mute and see if missing their content affects your life. If it does... how?

    • keep it on your radar and see how the posts make you feel when they pop up

There is no harm in taking a break from living in someone else's life.

in fact... imagine never doing that and just living in your own life 💃

freal tho - what are you consuming visually, emotionally... literally? 20 different witches feeding their sourdough starter (me)? neighbors who have a better swing set for their kids than you do? tf outta here - stay focused. do a social media audit. comb through, tighten up your ship, corral your ego and get rid of trashy scrolling. media is consuming us... for free. period. if we need a break from life and choose scrolling as our drug of choice... awesome but what are your boundaries around what influences you? ask: does it add to your goals of who you want to be in the future? would future you enjoy the way you're spending precious, limited time? ​ be completely satisfied with who you are and stay evolving. it's what i do and look how cool i am. ​ if you need a close friend while you sort this out - hmu on the gram. i'll help. love, me
